Wild Sage American Bistro

Spokane Wild Sage American BistroWhen you visit Wild Sage American Bistro, expect to find something unusual and creative on the menu. They can take a familiar dish and transform in into something wonderful.

Please note that I have heard that they aren't open for lunch anymore (bummer) but I still recommend them for dinner since we were really impressed with the overall quality of the food and service.

We decided to try the Wild Sage for lunch on the spur of the moment one sunny Saturday on the recommendation of a friend. We were all pleasantly surprised at the quality of the service and the uniqueness of the menu offerings.

The brick building that houses the restaurant is nicely decorated inside and has very high ceilings that are common in the these vintage buildings. My only complaint is that if there is a boisterous crowd in the restaurant it can be hard to have a conversation. This is a minor issue for me as long as the food is good.

Spokane Wild Sage American BistroOk, so how is the food? Well, I was in the mood for something simple so I ordered the French Onion Dip which is served with shaved NY steak. On top of the meat is a Poblano pepper and sweet onion marmalade with aged Gouda and Gruyere cheeses melted on top. As a side I opted for the  homemade kettle chips.

In my opinion the Poblano and onion marmalade turned an ordinary French Dip sandwich in something truly unique and the kettle chips were a nice compliment to the dish.

Spokane Wild Sage American BistroMy wife had the Wild Salmon Salad which is made with Wild Sockeye Salmon, toasted hazel nuts, Arugala, seasonal fruit (in this case cherries), organic green beans and Balsamic vinaigrette with blue cheese crumbles.

The combination of the  grilled salmon and toasted hazel nuts made for a nice combination of textures and flavors.

Spokane Wild Sage American BistroMy son has become quite an expert on Ahi tuna, so if he sees it on the menu he gives it a try. So naturally he opted for the Ahi Tuna Peanut Noodle.

The mesquite grilled rare tuna and soba noodles made for a nice blend of Asian and southwest flavors and the yellow curry peanut dressing gave it a wonderful Thai twist.

I was really impressed with the presentation of all the dishes that we had and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back to try the dinner menu based on how much we enjoyed lunch here.

All in all I would say that a trip to the Wild Sage is well worth your time.
