Spokane International Airport

Gateway to Spokane and the Inland Northwest

Spokane Airport Welcome SignSpokane International Airport (GEG) is located 5 miles west of Spokane in an area known as the west plains. This area is conducive for airports because of the relatively flat terrain. Just a little further to the west (about 4 mi) on highway 2 is Fairchild air force base.

As airports go Spokane International Airport is pretty easy to get in an out of as it is still fairly small compared to bigger cities. You don’t need shuttles to get to the various terminals as you do in say, Seattle.

The airport is served by 9 airlines that offer a flights to most major cities in the western United States. There are also car rental services that are conveniently located right at the air port.

Flight Information

In the winter months the weather can play havoc with flight schedules. Fog is often a problem at GEG, in fact I have been on flights that had to circle the airport for hours waiting for the fog to clear. One time my wife was flying back from Seattle in January and her flight ended up having to land at Fairchild AFB and then they took a bus over to GEG.

Here are some links to get up to date GEG flight information:

Passenger pick up

Here is something that I found out that is a really great feature of GEG. They have a “Cell Phone Parking Lot" where you can park for free while you wait for your arriving passenger to call you when they are ready to be picked up. You have to stay with your car. It’s located in the North Shuttle Parking lot.

Spokane International Airport Parking

There are many options for parking both daily and for extended periods.

Contact Airport Parking  (509) 455-6457

North Shuttle Parking Lot

This is the cheapest parking option. The rates are $6 per day or $42 per week, and there is a free continuous shuttle to/from all the terminals. The Cell Phone Parking (wait-for-free) area is located here.

Economy Lot

Located on the left just off Airport Drive. The rates are $7.25 per day and $50.75 by the week. Again, continuous shuttles are there to take you to all terminals.

Concourse C Parking Lot

On the right side off Airport Drive as you approach the terminals. The rates for this lot is $7.50/day and $52.50/week.

Outside Parking Lot

Located just to the north of the parking garages. This lot is a closer option and it's rates are $7.50/day and $52.50/week. One thing to be aware of if you use this lot is that there is no attendant so you can only pay with a credit card in a machine as you leave.

Parking Garages

This is the most convenient parking being just across from the main terminal. In addition to being more convenient it is also nice because your car is inside. If you are traveling during the winter and it happens to snow while you are away you won't have to shovel snow from around your car when you get back. The rates are $9/day and $63/week.

Services

The airport is a WiFi hotspot that is accessible as long as your computer has  wireless 802.11b/g network capabilities. Make sure you have a VPN or use secure "SSL" sessions by connecting to sites using HTTPS when doing any private transactions like entering passwords or internet banking.

The service is provided by Integrated WiFi and is not free. You buy session time that you can re-charge if you run out.

In you need help with this service you can call the customer support 24/7 at 800-530-3163 or email support@integratedwifi.com.

Note: I have not used it so I cannot personally vouch for the reliability or the cost of this service. You could do us a favor by telling us about your experience using it, good or bad, by using our  contact page. Thanks in advance!
