There are some Spokane day trips that are essential to do when you are here. There are mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and even theme parks all within a day’s drive of downtown Spokane.
You can go wine tasting in Walla Walla or take a gondola to the top of Silver Mountain and then ride a mountain bike back to the bottom. Take a cruise on Lake Coeur D Alene or go to Silverwood Theme Park for the day.
One of our favorite places is Coeur D Alene, Idaho. The town sits on the shores of a lake of the same name and is only a 30 minute drive from downtown Spokane. There are fantastic restaurants, art galleries, antique shops and much more.
North of Coeur D'Alene on highway 95 is the picturesque town of Sandpoint, Idaho. The town is known for it's rustic beauty and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts because of it's location near massive Lake Pend Oreille and the nearby Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort. It's about a 90 minute drive from Spokane through some of North Idaho's most beautiful scenery.

I love to taste good wine and Washington State is 2nd only to California in the production of premium wines. One of the up and coming areas for wine producing is the area around Walla Walla. There are about 80 wineries in the Walla Walla valley wine region and most are open to the public.
When an area is known for producing good wine it only makes sense that there are also some great restaurants. We let you in on the ones you must try when you visit.
