Spokane Chiefs at the Arena

Spokane Chiefs Hockey is a huge draw for sports fans in Spokane and the Pacific Northwest. The regular season cranks up the first weekend in October and if have never been to a game then you are really missing out!

The Chiefs are a Major Junior Hockey team in the Western Hockey League. This designation is the highest level of junior hockey in the Canadian Hockey League.

The players in this league range in age from 16 to 20 years old and are considered professional by the NCAA since they are paid a small amount of money for playing. They come from all over the world and many end up getting drafted into the pro ranks from the Chiefs.

The team is owned by Bobby Brett who bought the team in 1990 and brought them here from Kelowna. Bobby along with his brothers, John, Ken and George own five successful sports franchises along with the Chiefs including the Spokane Indians Baseball Club, the Bellingham Bells Baseball Club, The High Desert Mavericks Baseball Club and the Tri-City Dust Devils Baseball Club.

The Major Junior season goes for 6 months starting in October and runs through March. The Chiefs schedule is made up of 70 regular season games, half of them being home games. For your convenience here is a printable Chiefs 2011-2012 Schedule.

Spokane Arena

All of the Chiefs home games are played in the Spokane Arena  located in downtown Spokane.

The Spokane Arena seating configuration for a hockey game is 10,759 and the typical Chiefs attendance is regularly in the 6500 range. The exception being when they play the Tri-City Americans where a sell out is not uncommon.

They usually have some promotion going on at their home games and my favorite is buck night where you can get $1 pop, hot dogs and pop corn. The only problem is that the lines are a little longer.

Tickets range from $10.00 - $19.00 for adults depending on the proximity to the rink. If you plan on parking at the Spokane Arena it will end costing you about $5.00.

Tickets can be purchased directly from the Chiefs by calling 509-535-PUCK (7825) or from TicketsWest at 800-325-SEAT (7328).
