The town of Sandpoint
Idaho is the jewel of North Idaho. Located on the shores of pristine
Lake Pend Oreille its hard to find a more beautiful spot to visit. Its so
beautiful that a lot of people decide to stay.
From Spokane its a scenic 80 mile drive through North Idaho on Highway 95. On the way to Sandpoint there is also Silverwood Theme Park that is open during the summer months.
There is no shortage of things to do
year round no matter what you are looking for. There is an active arts scene and
ample shopping in the downtown area. Here is a sample of the community events
that you can check out if you time your visit right:
Sandpoint Winter Carnival (Jan)
Banff Mountain Film Festival at the Panida Theater (Jan)
Farmers Market (May Oct)
Lost in the 50s (May)
Schweitzer Bluegrass Festival (Jul)
Festival at Sandpoint (Aug)
Schweitzer Fall Festival (Sept)
Schweitzer Lakedance International Film Festival (Oct)
Of course there is a lot of fun outdoor activities that you
can do if you are here for the day.
The city beach has a really nice swimming area that the kids will love. Be aware that dogs are not allowed in the park which is a bummer if you happen to have your 4-legged buddie along for the trip. In fact it doesn't seem as though Sandpoint is particularly dog friendly. Just something to keep in mind.
Here
is a short list of activities that will keep the family busy while your here
Swimming
Bicycling
Mountain Biking

Lake Cruise
Fishing
Skiing

Hiking

Camping
You definitely want to check the weather conditions before you hit the road so here are the latest conditions:
