Max's at Maribeaux on Sullivan in the Valley

Hello everyone! I've only been to Max's twice now. But both times I have had no complaints and been pleasantly surprised!
I highly recommend you try it. I know I know hotel bars are not notorious for anything good...but Max's is the exception. They have a great Happy hour too!

My husband and I had a date night there Friday and enjoyed it thoroughly. In our cheapness we love trying Happy hour menus since obviously it's cheaper....duh...but also you get to try several fun things you might not otherwise. I mean who needs to have an appetizer AND an entree anyway?
We entered and were seated right away. First thing I noticed is that the 'lounge' area while still showing signs of you know, being a lounge, it didn't feel like most hotel bars. It really could have been the restaurant section except for the telltale signs about minors. The host checked back with us several times to make sure we were attended to, stopping to see if we had questions or fill our water. Clearly he was NOT the waiter or the busboy but he filled in the gaps nicely. A service we noticed and appreciated.

On to the food! I had the Ahi appetizer, it was perfectly prepared and delicious. I'm sorry this is a few days after so the details escape me but I remember wishing there was more it was so good. We shared a couple of other appetizers not knowing what sizes to expect and since my husband won't touch the Ahi. The Calamari was unexpected and very good. The Chicken Satay was also delicious. Last but not least I had my first Mangotini and was quite in love with that. Overall, I'd say it appears to have consistent food, service and drinks! We plan on going more often!
